Walking out this weekend.

I have a group of buddies that are looking to fish URL this Friday, Sat. and Sunday and none of us have been there before. Any help on the basics would be appreciated.

Is there enough ice to walk and drag a portable?

When is the best time to fish?

Where can/should a guy walk out from?

Is it best to fish around the cribs?

Best spot to have an adult beverage in the area?

Any other information would be greatly appreciated.

Big Brown, there is definately enough ice to walk out and drag a portable out, but if you have a four wheeler I'd suggest that.The South side from what I here still has thin ice if not open water, so as of now I'd suggest Hillman's they have a road out 4 miles and is flagged the whole way! Best place to fish know one knows, you'll just have to move and find them. The best time to fish is right towards dusk and well into the night.

West Wind has a great bar and is about 1/2 mile south of Hillmans.
