Best winter walleye lake in the area?

Recommended Posts

I know we all have our opinions, but If you guys could only fish one lake within twenty miles of Bemidji for Walleyes What would it be. I'm not asking for anybody to give up secret lake X, Just a fun poll.

I personally really like Bemidji for walleyes. Good structure and quite a few fish. Rarely will you go out not have some action, not always a limit but usually a couple. The bad thing is that it takes so dang long to freeze up.

I always like Lake Bemidji. Of course, you need to be in the right spot at the right time.

I put my permanents out on Bemidji and have been very successful the past 4 years. Hopefully the weather will turn cold, and start making some ice!

Oh come on chris you really don't know how to catch any fish, do ya? I thought it was all from those GPS cordinates we gave ya to Lard Lake. Anybody can catch those walleyes from a stock pond.

big drift

Does anybody have information on the action on Marquette lake? Went out once but was blind out there. (new to bemidji) I couldnt get out to the humps near the deep hole, was wondering if there are any other productive spots.

Anything would be helpful, thanks

Were you parked at the Carr Lake swimming beach tonight? I live down near there, and saw a couple of vehicles out there when I got back from fishing.

Anyway, I fished 'quette on Friday with some luck, managed 2 'eyes, little perch by the fistful, 2 pike, and an oiler. I'm sure you walked over our holes because we're the only ones that have been out on this side from what I can tell. The ice is still iffy once you get out past the drop in the 30' range, but the action in closer to shore was okay for us.

matt, that was me & mastergopherhunter!, the ice was about 4.5" until we got to the edge of the 30ft point, it turned to about 4.

it was pretty slow, I'm sure they are in there though!

any keeper perch in there?

We've had real good luck putting in at Oak Hills and fishing 13-15ft right after the sun goes down.

The middle humps were never as "hot" for us, but did catch some bigger eyes and 1 28 1/2".

That wasn't this year though.

Good luck.
