Long Lake New Brighton

Lived in New Brighton a couple of years ago and have fished the south basin (hole area), but we have moved back and live next to the North Basin across from the rail line. Has anyone fished this bay? From the map there is a major drop off with a 30 foot hole in the middle. Just want general info

hey crappieman i write reports of long lake and know where to catch most of the fish and when the best time is and the hott spots.

some are in rice creek back by the rail raod bridge is good for crappie, walleye, pike, catfish and bullies. and the bay before the channel to the 2nd part of long there are nice crappies, pike, and some walleye.

I do good for walleye at rice creek, the fishing pier, and the drop offs in my boat. If you want to hook up sometime and go out i can show you these spots. Ask LOST i took him out a few times and he got some nice fish and some others but i frogot.

That sounds great. Do you near the lake? I live on the dead end of Mississippi St. Have you ever fished the drop offs in the North 'Bay. By the map, there appears to be some good ones. Lets plan on hooking up. I will be in a Trap Pro. I will e mail you.

be careful on the north side in the winter, there is current there and the ice never seems to set up like the south basin. I have ice fished the north side only a few times with no luck (including the deep hole). Hard to see any fish on the sonar due to the current and all that comes with it.

I wouldn't trust the north bay during the winter because of the current... unless we're hit by a couple weeks of sub-zero temps... then maybe.

To answer your question, long lake has been slow for me the last couple of years. I mainly targeted walleye with some success, but not enough to keep me coming back. If you hit it on the right night, you might be in for a decent crappie bite, nothing huge but decent metro fish. All in all a decent lake but the fish move, constantly!!

anyone been out latley?? I am thinking about fishing Saturday and wanted to know the ice conditions.

I would be very careful. The outlet of rice creek is still open. The ice looks in good condition by the landing, but I would think 4 inches would be the most if you luck. Bring you spud bar.

long lake in the winter this year is slow i was out a few times with little to no success.....but in the spring and summer i hammer the crappies,walleye and pike if someone would want to go out then i can take you out to show you some hot spots. e-mail is [email protected]

I was out there for a while last night. There was a ton of water on the ice. We didn't catch anything but a buzz. IT was too hard to move with all the water on the ice. There was a good 8-10" of ice out there though.
