Which Ice Auger ?????

I am finally going to buy a new ice auger. I have been using an Eskimo from the 70's for the past 16 years. I am looking at the Eskimo Mako (I think that is it ) Fleet Farm has them for $199. does anyone own one of these or used one?? I like the metal handle had a buddie who has replaced his jiffy handle all the time (3X). What do you guys think is the Strikemaster worth the extra money?

I have been asking questions in the ice forum for the past few weeks and I have come to the conclusion that the strikemasters are worth the money. I will be picking up the lazer mag express in an 8 inch size when the ice starts to get a little thicker.

Strikemaster is the way to go, I have owned a Jiffy and was happy but the Strikemaster blades cut much nicer. If either of you want I have a new 224-8 the new strikemaster for about the same price as the Lazer Mag. email me [email protected]

If you use a Vexilar or camera the bigger 9 or 10 inch Strikemaster or Jiffy stealth is the way to go. Eskimos are fairly good, the mako is the low end of them. If your looking for a 8 inch get the Mako or Strikemaster Xpress.

The Lazer Mags are great, but if you need to re-open a lot of holes inside a fish house, you better go with a Jiffy. The blades on the Lazer are not very good at re-opening holes. Besides that, you can't beat them. For a good deal, call the Strikemaster plant in Big Lake, they might have an old display model for sale. I got one 2 years ago brand new with a few scratches for $225.
