Not that this will mean much, but...Powderhorn Lake near downtown Minneapolis was froze over this morning. It was 80% froze yesterday. I forgot to look at it on my way home from work today. The seagulls were all standing around out there looking confused yesterday and today. smile.gif

The dead pond Lake Smetana in Eden Prairie has some ice and open water. I did take a step out on the ice at the launch and it cracked. I weigh 160, so it's not ready just yet. Give it some time. May need to drive way north this weekend if you really want a shot at safer/walkable ice.

A small lake (probably about 100 acres or so) by me in the east metro was completely iced over today at about two o'clock. Not really a fishing lake, but it is nice to see solid ice from shore to shore.

You won't find fishable ice in the metro this weekend. Its supposed to be 40* and sunny this weekend. so even if you find 2" of ice I'd be more than skeptical about punching holes in it.

I'm not sure, but there looked to be ice on Medicine by French Park. The rest of the lake was open water.

Saw a little ice on Bass Lake. Hopefully we're close and will have some walkable ice in a week or two.

Lake Marion appeared to be iced over this evening, It was dark when i was out but I pulled into the launch and shined the highs at it (not too long though, Id hate to melt it already) grin.gif I hope prior, and spring are in a similiar state, bring on the ice.

One of the roosters I shot this morning fell way out onto a large frozen over pond, the ice seemed pretty solid when my springer ventured out for the retrieve. Someone said they were ice fishing up on Reno by Alexandria.

Nice shot at people in the North Arm there snag. This is an attack free forum and not all waterskiers are as you portray them. Besides, you were talking about ice conditions were you not ? After this weekend, we will be reminded that it just is not time yet, and in fact, quite possible that we will be lucky to be out there by Christmas.

Drove by Lake Riley in EP yesterday afternoon, it was half froze over. Drove by this morning and it was completely froze up.

Saw two guys fishing on lake rebecca in Hastings today. That got me excited enough to head to some backwater areas tomorrow with my brother in law to chase some bluegills if the ice allows. Plus I feel a little safer standing over 3' of water than 10' this early in the year. The spot we have is close to shore also. I'll post tomorrow what we found for ice if any.

Friend at work indicated that Sarah was frozen over.

I drive through Lake Minnetonka on 15 everyday for work. NO ice on any of the bays except for a little ice in the seton Channel and Tananger bay is 50% Iced up.

Spring Park bay launch is completly ice free, for those that still want to get the boat out.

There were two guys on Mud lake in Woodbury punching holes this morning. They were out in the middle, but away from the area where the aerator keeps it open. Tanners lake across 94 is still wide open.

Halsteds bay is almost completely froze over and priest bay had ice out quite a ways. This is all very thin and probably will melt today.

Medicine froze? Lake Sara to? I work in Eden Priaire and little pond called Lake Smetana still has open water. Deepest it gets is 12feet. Part of it has ice though. I better get some new line for my ice reals ASAP. shocked.gif

Man, this is depressing.

Stopped by a 100 acre lake in St. Paul, less than 15' deep, still plenty of open water. Took a few steps from shore & she started to crack & moan. Doesn't look good. And who were those people out on Phalen? Yeesh!

I stopped by the boat ramp on lake marion in Lakeville. You could see where someone walked out about 15 feet and punched a hole. was dark out so I didn't get out to see how thick the ice was.

Max,

There isn't anybody out on Phalen; there isn't even any ice on Phalen. If you mean Round (which is across the parking lot from Phalen), I wouldn't yeesh guys who know how to handle first ice for venturing out there right now. I was however slightly amused by the suitcase style-plywood floor-canvas wall shanty with 20lb LP tank and heater running enough to put a 3 foot wide puddle all aroung the shack.
