Need info on Leaf Lake

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help an old dog learn some new tricks. A couple of buddies and I have been ice fishing on Middle C. for the past six years and have decided it is time for a change. We have been thinking about trying Leaf lake. Now I have never been out on that body of water before so I could use a little direction if anyone is willing. Panfish are what we are after (Crappies if possible). So any info you would like to share about leaf or any other spot would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

We were thinking of the Leaf lake north of Big Cormorant. If you have a better option in that general area we are open to suggestions.

Thanks

I've fished Lief a few times and have done okay on bluegills and also on crappie but, the size has always been small. I've caught very few that met my personal keeper requirements ( they have to be as big as my hand at least).

But, the silver lining is that I've caught some big large mouth bass through the ice there.

That's all I know. Good Luck!

Thanks for the Info Cookboy. I think we may try Little Cormorant instead. I was looking at the DNR survey data and it looks like there might be a decent Crappie bite there and a chance to snag a couple of Walleye at the same time. Have you been up to Cook lately? I was up there a couple of times for deer season. It's always nice to make the trip up that way and down a couple at the Muni wink.gif.

Thanks for the info

Beeber, I managed to make it home for the 1st two weekends of deer season. Our shack only got 4 deer for 9 guys. Our shack is past the Berens farm about 1 mile. Kinda suprising being that I can hardly drive from the shack to Effie without seeing 50 or more deer after it gets dark. I presume you hunted around the family farm area, did you guys do well?

Oh well, I forget about hunting real quick when the lake ices over. We had 3" 2 days ago on Little Detroit so, I'll hopefully be punching holes this weekend.

Good luck to all.
