Knife Cleaning

Philo

Recommended Posts

After gutting my deer this year (and every other year) my knife is covered with some type of goo from the deer. (fat perhaps?) Wondering if anyone has any good ways to get this stuff off my knife?

Yep, that is fat, tallow, etc.

I use very hot water, and an old tooth brush or a brass brush also works.

Once all that stuff is off, I wash it again in clean, hot water.

Its just tallow or basically animal fat that solidifies as it cools. Good HOT water just takes it right off. I clean mine with it and regular dishwashing soap and it comes clean as a whistle.

Ditto on the Soapy Hot Water for the tallow.

Hope I get a chance to clean my knife yet this year.
