Mark welcome to FM. The Burntside Bash is Sat January 29th. Check the Ice Fishing main forum and look at the Ice Leaders posts. It will tell ya all you need to know. Its good if you pay on line before you show up. Lots of great prizes, food, fun and fish. Sounds like I will be doing the weighing of fish so make sure you stop by and say Hi.

Hey Mark, welcome to Ely and to FM. Northlander pretty much summed up what you need to know. I'll just add that it's a blast. Hope to see you there.

The Bash is a hoot. As we get nearer there'll be plenty of talk and more details here. Visit the ICE Series, LETS & FM Gatherings forum and get registered.

Nobody makes a wide-angle lens wide enough to fit 14 widebodies in one frame. I'd have to stand all the way back by the Ely Steakhouse to fit everyone in at the Dead River.

I haven't been in this area for 20 years. Is there much for accomadations around Burntside? Is there a central place you guys will be staying at? Any help appreciated.

Thanks

BDR, should be plenty of places to stay. Town is pretty close to the lake. Some folks grab a hotel, some stay on the ice. If you do a search for Burntside Bash there's a ton of info. Pretty quick there'll be an official post with all the info (plus a little banter). Glad to hear you're coming.

Ill see, maybe we will have room for ya on a cot or something. Im not sleeping with Cheffrey, he scares me when he drinks. If ya know what I mean. blush.gif

Does anybody know where the Y Camp is on Burntside? I believe it's somewhere on the North Arm. We'll be heading there January 28th - 30th and I was wondering if this is near The Burntside Bash location. Might be fun to jump aboard.

The YMCA Camp - Widjiwagan - Is located on the very end of the North Arm, Marked with the #'s 644 on most maps. Follow the Echo Trail to the North Arm Rd. hang a left @ go about 3 Mi. Cant miss it. If you get to the Slim lake Public Access & Portage youve gone too far.

I'm not involved in the B.B. as of yet but as I understand it the ice will be plowed somewhere near the end of the Passi Rd. 1/2 way from the start of the Echo trail to the N. Arm Rd.

Like I said I am not involved in said event except as a FM member & curious about my old stompin' grounds. As a guide emeritis of Widji I cant tell you how many times I've paddeled up the Dead river to the Range Rvr. headed for the woods. I have available a heated boat house on some property adjecent to the the dead river so I may come out & see what the action is like when a group of die hard fishermen get together & post the party on the web.

I've had some real nice Splake action on High & Dry ( a short portage away ) in years past. Anyone know how those lakes have been the last few years??

Casaloma, H&D have been great. Released a 21" Brookie there last winter. Lots of good eaters. Good to hear you might be there.

MT, will you be sledding or driving? Driving it's about 10 minutes back toward town on the echo, turning on Passi, and following Passi to the end where you can drive onto the lake and to the HQ. No big whoop at all. Hope you can make it as well.
