Not looking for anyones secret spots, but in another week or so when we all head for the hardwater, what do you think you will bait up for, and what lake (optional) might we all head for?

I would like to head out on Fish, but it could be awhile yet! Just thinking about trying to land a few Crappie, c'mon cold!!!!

Also, I am looking at buying a Marcum LX or a FL 18, which product would you guys recomend? I used an FL18 last year, and they are a nice unit, but I have noticed that the LX's run a little cheaper? Any input a plus, thanks wormburner!

Wormburner, Both are good but If you compare the two the LX3 is the better flasher IMO. Maybe we can setup an on ice demo. Watching the temps has been an emotional roller coaster. I'd stick to small lakes that iced over all at once for now but even those could use a few more cold nights. Fish lake is going to have varying ice thickness so I'd wait till we get a weeks worth of nights 10 degrees or less before heading out there.

Eyes are always best at first ice so thats what I go after, leaving the crappies and gills till later in the season.

I jig one rod. Go Devils, Swedish pimples give a fairly fast drop and work well. If I find the eyes are in the mood for a slower drop then go to Angle Eyes or a lead free jig like Islander lures Big and Little dippers or Perch Eyes. Which every I use they're all tipped with a head, tail or whole chub. My second line either gets put in the house with me and I dead stick it or I spread it out and use a tipup. Most times I'll use a chub but some lakes around here I'll go with a golden shiner.
