As I sit here attempting to force feed an older computer the Linux operating system, I wonder what lakes are skimmed and what lakes are open in the East Central region. What's the word?

I suppose there's an outside chance of fishable ice by next weekend for the brave of heart. I doubt my heart's that brave. It will be cold, but not cold enough to put 3" on in 5 days. Oh to wish. But, how does the saying go, "Wishing in one hand,..."

Much of North Center had some skim ice on it.. but there were a lot of open patches. Most of the back bay of South Center had some skim but again many holes. The main basin of South Center is way open, Same with south Lindstrom. I don't think with the predicted temps that there will be fishable ice by the next weekend.

Cross lake in Pine City had ice on the southern end, but was still wide open where the river current flows through the lake.

Was planning on checking the lakes around Mora, Fish, Ann and Knife today. Not much else to do now that I'm laid off again for the winter. Will post a report when I get back.

I'm another victim of the winter layoff, due to cold and concrete not mixing!Knife lake is only about a mile from me,but I haven't been to close to it other than bowhunting.I could see it had some ice on it,but not sre how much?

Wondered out onto Fish Lake in Mora yesterday and was jumping around. Didn't walk out far, maybe 15-20 yards out the public access by the bar. Drove by Knife Lake. The north end is still open in a large spot, the south end looks to be coming along nicely north of the bridge on 19. Didn't make it to Ann Lake, but I'm sure I will soon. Will let you know.

Tonight on Baxter, just south of Princeton, there were two brave souls on the ice getting a jump on the action. I walked out and they said there was 2+ inches, so I walked back off....hehehe. There is still a small area open in the center, but it shouldn't be long now.
