I live on Fiske (west of Battle Lake). Most of the lake has had 1/2" for the last two days but tonight should "finish" it off.

Took a drive this morning. Here is what I saw. Ethel Lake had about 3/4 of the first section of the lake frozen and small patches of ice in the other parts of the lake. The Silver Lakes had ice across them and well as some of South Turtle. There is some snow on top of the lakes, however. Clitherall was wide open as well as Ottertail. Went to Fleet this morning and bought another tackle box full of ice spoons and jigs. I think I have a problem...

My problem is that I need ice time to fish all of this new tackle!! laugh.gif

Even with not much ice, it's still a good day. The UND Fighting Sioux advanced to the semi-finals in football today!

East end of S. Turtle is frozen, but the west basin is still open. I am glad that muzzleloading is open, or I'd be going nuts.

The following is the same report that I made in the 'Ice Fishing Main' forum...just cut and pasted...

Took a drive today to check on ice conditions, around Otter Tail and Dent. Most of the larger lakes (Otter Tail, Star, the McDonald lakes, Marion) are all open (saw a couple guys in a boat just outside of the City of Ottertail). The Pine lakes by Perham are also open yet.

Some of the smaller lakes (Round, Buchanan) have ice and might be decent for walking by next weekend.

Also got north by Menahga (just south of Park Rapids), and talked to a couple guys coming off of Twin Lakes. They said that there was about 1.5" a ways out (around 3" closer to shore)...again, most of the smaller lakes around there were frozen over.

Drove past West Battle, Ottertail, and a few others this afternoon. Stopped and chopped ice on Leon lake by Phelps Mill. She had a solid 2" 50ft. from shore. Predicted low temps look good for Wednesday & Thursday. If one of them is calm, we might see the larger lakes ice over. Looking good for next weekend.

Be careful you guys -- I live 100 miles NE of you and our lakes are not even close to being safe. My little lake with a maximum of 23' is frozen over but with the small skiff of snow we had Thanksgiving evening created slush and even a little pooling of water. The deer are walking on the edge but not more than 10-20 yards out. Our big lakes are not even skimmed over, Turtle, North Star, Bowstring, Jessie, Sand. Give Mother Nature a little more time.

This morning Pelican looked as it just froze last night. Still really thin, we need colder temps and no wind!

FLB, Fishing was very poor. I moved my fish house 3 times in 3 days and only managed 5 crappies. I hope to have better luck this week.
