We are makin' ice!

Drove by several local lakes the last couple of days and some are almost completely iced over. Won't be long now if the weather holds up and no big wind. My jigging arm is beginning to twitch!!

which lakes in particular? I have been by some but not many are frosen yet.

Many of the small lakes such as Achman and Minni right along 94 by Avon. Minni was all froze over and Achman has a small hole in the middle that was still open. Also saw a few lakes north of Avon/St. Cloud that were froze over. Won't be long!

A good part of Horseshoe had ice this morning as well. Not totaly covered but getting there.

Any news from the NW bay of Rice?? That seems to usually freeze over fast.

Just was out at Little Rock, it was frozen over for the most part. Would guess there will be some die hards out by the weekend if not sooner.

I talked to my buddy today, and he went out last night and caught a couple of crappies. He said that there was a couple of inches of GOOD ice. I will be out this weekend.

I just put on 20 miles of scouting in the Richmond area.

There are no lakes with fishable ice, yet.

Lot of open water on the bigger lakes like Horseshoe and Cedar Island.

The bays are froze, but not very thick yet.

I threw a small rock out in the bay on Horseshoe, and it went right thru the skim ice.

The forecast dosen't look good for the weekend, upper 30's.

Be carefull out there guys, I guarantee you I will not be the first ice hero out there.

Thanks for the report. That doesn't sound good for ice reports. I'm hoping for some cooler weather this next week as I'd like to get out next weekend if possible.
