Millstone? Really? I'll probably try it again too...those were pretty tasty 12"-14" walleyes! Perfect sandwich size, eh?grin.gif

With the time available to me these days, ice is my only hope for an outdoor adventure! Hunting was a great big fizzle! (except for grouse) Come on ICE!

fishface where did you hunt grouse? I heard the duluth area was ok this year. All I need is one week of boating on buffalo lake to graph the spots I want to fish this winter. I bought a X19 lowrance graph and can reord depths and locations of the deep holes. Can make a map of the area. then the lakes can freeze over. The gas in the boat i can use fishing walleyes onthe river, those walleyes are biting like crazy.

Hey Jim,

Are you fishing on the mighty Miss for them walleyes? I've never fished the river cause my boat is a deep V and I'm afraid I'll get myself in trouble. How are the smallies on the river? Are they still biting?

Shoot me an email if you'd like. [email protected]

Thanks,

Ole

Jig'n, Millacs area is where I found a couple of grouse. Shoot fast! They are wise birds. Buffalo was HOT last winter, at least for the crappies. If you want to get out there at first ice let me know. If the day off works out, I'd love to give it a go, asap! The Missp. was very good for smallmouth this summer. I don't know how it's been lately. Although I bet if you put a bit of effort in around the deeper spots, on the prime days you may get a fish or two.

Ole, I've been fishing the Mississippi River at Red Wing. There are a lot guys who use a deep-v on the river. You need to keep an eye on where your running. Or go with someone to show you how to fish the river. The smallies at this time of year are rather slow but if you put in the time some could be caught.

The walleyes down there have been biting real well. I guided a gentleman from Alabama on trip on pool 4 and we limited out with nice walleyes and saugers. Largest Walleye was 23 inches. The largest Sauger was a 22 3/4 incher which is a In-Fisherman Master Angler Award fish. I'm thinking of getting a smaller boat for the monticello area. Sorry the Ranger won't float there.

Jim,

I thought you were talking about the Monticello area on your previous post. I've never fished down by Red Wing but will someday. I really want to get out on the river up by Monticello but I too need a smaller boat. Oh well, it's always something! Ha-Ha! Ice fishing should be warming up very soon so maybe that will help my soft water blues!

Happy Holiday!

Ole
