Somebody tell winter to hurry up a little. My ice house needs a home. My girlfriend wants to eat some crappies. My ice rod is getting stiff. My drag is rustin up.

How much longer do you guys think we have till we get some safe fishing ice?

I say 2 weeks for fishing small protected areas. I am getting impatient also. I was scanning even the smallest ponds today and saw NO ice anywhere.

smaller lakes/ponds within the metro were completely crusted over this morning. Except where the geese and ducks kept her open.

Been there, done that...(Boat etc.) just waiting on the ice, hmg, tell your girlfriend to hold on, it won't be long now! I believe that in a week or two, we will all be happier fisherman!

Well I was out Pheasant hunting today and I actually walked on ice!!! Couple steps and I would break thru but we are closer. Some good sized bodies of water had a skim on them.

Let me apologize for the slow ice, for you see, I am a 'delayed gratification' diety. It's all my fault. I bought a new underwater camera and now it's going to take forever before there is any ice. Sorry folks, but I just had to have the camera and I wasn't thinking about what effect it would have on the ice season. I should have let some ice form first and then bought the camera. Sorry. I let childish excietment cloud my better judgement.
