Hmmm...noon on Saturday, I cannot make it until 1:00:):)

Use descretion...I agree...perhaps start by not insulting fellow FM'ers.

I must say...I agree that a few guys fishing a lake for a couple days will do much less to harm the fishery than the people who fish it hard all season.

Hey Nitebiter, I haven't heard anyone say the fish are biting in Red Rock. Are they? I would not worry too much about it unless you got something to hide there. Hmmmm, I wonder.

Sorry guys, I'm not very good at biting my tongue, so I'll say what most of the rest of us are likely thinking & haven't said yet. If you can't play nice both of you be quiet. It's starting to sound a lot like my 6 & 3 year-olds. I'm saying this very tongue-in-cheek.

Personally I think you're both taking the extremes on this issue & also trying to antagonize each other. Heck now everybody can gang up on me. It's not going to ruin my Christmas. Have a good one everybody.

Oh yeah, & I won't be on Red Rock on Saturday I'll be celebrating Christmas with my family, don't expect to see me out there anytime this year. I've fished it a couple times in the summer several years ago, it was fine, but no better than many other lakes much closer to home in my opinion.

BigBucks, No really, I'm curious now. I might be missing a good bite. Two of my all time biggest walleyes came from that lake.

I hit Red Rock quite a bit last year after looking at creel surveys from previous samplings. There was one day we had a phenomenal walleye bite. 8 fish between 24 & 29 in. We sent them all back down the hole. That was the only day we honestly had "good" fishing on the ice last year on Red Rock.

The perch size structure was similar to a lake I catch a lot of 10-12 inch perch on north of Winnie. To be honest I think I caught 10 perch in 10 trips. They were nice for the most part but there weren't the numbers I expected. Then I talked to some guys who mentioned the previous two years people had been pile driving the perch all season, taking limits every trip open water through ice season. That's a pretty effective way to knock down a population. As others have mentioned on this thread, the same thing happened to the lake's crappies a while back. I'm just not convinced the numbers are in there like they used to be. No fish population can handle consistent heavy harvests and maintain quality fishing year in and year out. Especially on a lake Red Rock's size. Don't blame that on the "locals" or any other group of people for that matter. The responsiblity is on everyone to know when to stop the slaughter.

Personally, I'm trying seemingly overlooked lakes in the area. I haven't seen another set up out on the lakes I've been on and my success hasn't been too bad. It seems to me, if you join a crowd you probably missed the best bite already by a week, a month, or a year.

Yes a voice of reason, and without insults!!!

My two sons and I fished Red Rock tonight. We kept 12 crappies and release as many more.

The water was cloudy????

Nice night.

MNMuskie - you're right on - these other guys (locals or not) are amateurs. As a LOCAL, I have fished RR for years, always a great time - sometimes a limit sometimes not, but always a good time - clear water makes great sight fishing - these other fella's make it sound like the fish need to come to them - amateurs. The only thing about RR in 2004 is no houses - none spearing and few angling - apparently somebody said the fish have disappeared. Y'all just stay away now and let us local fella's handle it. smirk.gif
