Does anybody know of a good boat repair shop around Kato? The decking in the boat is developing a big mushy mess towards the back of the boat and I am looking for a shop to do it. I heard of a place somewhere around hear but do you think I can remember where I heard. If anybody would like to refer a place I would have huge appreciation!

It's a little ways away but there's a place near New Richland that works on stuff like that called Bakken's Boat Shop. Know the owner well and have done business with him. Does good work & he's a nice guy. Depending on which side of Mankato you live on, the place is 35 - 40 miles. Phone number is 507-465-8337.

My boat is at Pemperton Power Sports in Pemperton right now. Andy is a great guy that will not screw you!

I had my boat at a nameless dealer in Souix Falls and they told me I needed a new powerhead. Andy says all I need is a new head gasket. I like the looks of his bill better. I am always willing to give the small guy business. Tell him you heard it from me. Email me and I can give you his number

I second Steve Bakken in New Richland, he's an expert on this kind of work.

Mike W. I heard too that in S.F. and central S.D. there is no dealer or mechanic worth their money....

I've met Steve at the Bakken boat shop and he's a really nice guy to deal with. Brought a fiberglass car part for him to repair and he was very helpfull.

Go to his shop and look at his display boat.

You're welcome. Actually Bakken's are our neighbors to the north. Richard still owns the boat shop (I think) and Steve is his son. I consider them good friends, the kind you can count on when the chips are down because we have. We are very lucky to live by them.
