The world loves the Pack

The three years prior to Miller park the brew crew averaged roughly 7 thousand more per game than the twins. Both had lower attendance than now but overall popularity for baseball has gone up since then I think. Everybody knows the twins need a new stadium. My dad and grandpa always talk about going to outdoor games at night down at the Met in Bloomington.(I think that was the name of it)Now you couldn't pay them enough to go see one at the hole they call the metrodome.

As for someones comment about Favre and painkillers. Please get over it, it is your favorite comment and comeback for everything. Similiar situations have happened to other players and they ride it to the bottom and end up out of football. Give the guy a little credit.

Nolte beat me to the punch on this one in pointing out your lack of information. For the 5 years PRIOR to Miller Park the Brewers out drew the Twins by an average of 4000+ fans per year.

I like the wild, but comparing their situation to brewers is dumb because they should be playing. Also they haven't had all losing season, weren't they in the playoffs here recently.

I think we should stop kidding ourselves and admit that our intensity for a team increases when they are on top and winning. But to compare Pack fans to Vikes fans on a bandwagon basis is not even close. You guys aren't big enough fish to pull that bobber down.

Ohhh this is funny!!!

Toilet Bowl II this friday should be interesting as it is about all either team can hope for.

Good luck and happy holidays to all this weekend. Probably enough ice here, I plan to listen to the game on the lake.

Leave it to a Viking fan to change the subject of a losing debate. The debate is fan support between teams. Viking fans brought up the baseball and basketball numbers and fan support. I simplied showed their argument didn't hold by presenting attendance facts. The fact is the Brewers have out drawn the Twins EVEN THOUGH the Twins have a winning team. And did so even before Miller Park. That doesn't say much about Minnesota fans and their support of their winning professional sports teams which. If you want to debate who is better the Twins or the Brewers take it to the Baseball forum, I'm sure there will be people to debate it there.

On that note, I am not a Brewers fan, even though I grew up in Wisconsin and now live in Minnesota. I've been upset with the Seligs in how they pushed through for a stadium, cut salaries so they could rake in more cash when they sold the team. I have worked for the Twins organization in the past and have continued my loyalty as a fan since. So go ahead rip on the Brewers as much as you want.

NOLTE,

FIRST, YOU ARE CORRECT THAT THE WILD HAVE NOT HAD A LOSING SEASON EACH YEAR, BUT MAKING THE PLAYOFFS ONCE IN A LEAGUE THAT ACCEPTS OVER 50% OF ITS TEAMS INTO THE PLAYOFFS DOES NOT EXACTLY MAKE YOU A DYNASTY.

SECOND, WHAT IN THE WORLD MAKES YOU PACKER FANS THINK YOU ARE SO MUCH BETTER? YOU BOO YOUR TEAM LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, THE AVERAGE FAN JUMPS ON AND OFF THE BANDWAGON IN EVERY NFL CITY, AND THE AVERAGE FAN CALLS FOR THE COACHES HEAD EVERY TIME THINGS GO BAD. I AM NOT REFERRING TO YOU, ME OR ANYONE IN PARTICULAR BUT JUST THE AVERAGE FANS. WE WILL HAVE TO AGREE TO DISAGREE WITH THE HOLINESS OF THE PACKER FANS.

I AM HOPING FOR A GREAT GAME AND A GREAT HOLIDAY FOR EVERYONE.

Yes, If you look through the football index the topic was brought up a couple weeks ago. One of,(if not the only) the funniest bits on KFAN.

I beleive I kinda started this debate and it has gotten a bit off topic. Who cares about baseball except for playoffs and there is no hockey. The pack fans buy tickets in advance more than the vikes. Pack fans claim to be so much better than vikes. Pack fans boo just like other fans and as such are no better than the rest. Regardless of what you say booing your team is not supporting your team as you claim to do regardless of performance.

Typical Packer fan blinders.

I agree it has gotten off topic with the injection of other sports, but since it was brought I had to defend the Wisconsin side.

I agree also that both Viking and Packer fans are passionate about their teams. They cheer when they win and boo when they play like crap( which has been quite a bit for both teams this year). My point was simply using game attendance as an indication of fan support. Though you have to admit there is something to be said about support for the Packers on a national level. You always see multiple Packer fans at away games. Also if it wasn't there then the media wouldn't have such a love affair with them and wouldn't market them the way they do. This year alone 1 ESPN game, 3 Monday night games, and National game on Christmas Eve. Add to the mix that the NFL moved past two games to a late start for TV reasons.

I'm sure once Favre retires the Packers won't continue its success its had during the Favre era, but you know Lambeau will still be sold out and fans will come out to watch their beloved Green & Gold in sub freezing temps.

Rememer "fan" is only short for Fanatic, isn't that what we all are?

I have been to many Vikings away games New Orleans, Houston, Tampa, Arizona and even Oakland to name a few. We do one a year and will someday hit every stadium before I die. I see Viking fans numbering in the 1000's at every one of those games except the Oakland game (probably afraid to wear the Purple with those nuts there). My point is that the Packer fans don't have a monopoly of support at away games either. I still don't understand what makes Packer fans that different. Other than the demand for tickets at Lambeau, nobody has pointed out anything that Green Bay fans do different than anybody else in the NFL. Yes, the fans in AZ, and New Orleans are pathetic but for the most part the passionate, loyal fan is the same person in a different color jersey.

Im just amazed by this debate here. I just love it when a Packer fan talks about how they are such a great fan, and no other team has as good of fans as the pack. Well good for you. Do all of you believe Favre can walk on water? well maybe after about a dozen beers I suppose I would too. smirk.gif

I'm a vikes fan, and I can be very critical of them. Does that make me a bad fan? In that case, I am proud to be a bad fan or bandwagoner.

Game attendance is the point I'm trying to make that makes Green Bay Packer Fans different. Win or lose they come to Lambeau Field and watch the Packers play. Something you don't see in most NFL cities, including Minnesota. Here's some more facts to make them different

Lambeau Field has been sold out for 57,000 straight games. In years, this covers 42 years including preseason, regular season, and post season. Season tickets account represent 47 states. The only other NFL team that even closely compares are the Redskins.

If they played 20 games a year they would have to play 2,850 years to get to 57,000 games.

My take on where the pack fans get thier egos is exageration by one fan and then the other puppets just follow.

thats good down to earth. You Packer fans should really be proud of that. It's kind of like staying out on the ice, in the same spot. Some times the fish dont bite. And, when you dont catch anything, you can brag about how you stayed in that same spot the hole time. Then, you can call me a bad fisherman for trying different spots.

Your right I messed up on that. I went back to double check my source and it is not 57,000 games, but names on the waiting list. Sorry for the mis-information. It still is 42 years thought. Washington being the next closest at 36.

DowntoEarth,

If you read my post I did not take issue with GB attendance and in fact stated that I agreed with it. My point was about the other statements that Packer fans make that they think make them different, i.e. away games, bandwagon jumping, etc... I believe the attendance is a culmination of years of demand that have created a ticket that is impossible to give up because of the next to impossible ability to get it back and the lack of any other team to satisfy a sports fans need. GB fans are tops in attendance, agreed, but that does give them any step up in football fan sainthood.

I haven't really followed this thread, and I'm going to just say this once and be done with it: congratulations, Packer fans. This day, and this year, your team is better than mine. Today in the Metrodome, the Viking efense (they have no "D") couldn't stop anyone when it counted. On every critical play, the Packers did what they had to do, and my Vikings always came up with a penalty or blown coverage when it mattered most. Good luck in the playoffs, Packers--you'll need it when you have to play a well-coached team instead of the one you played today.

As for me, I am hoping Mike Tice is unemployed as of Sunday morning--let the guy enjoy Christmas. That would be the one good thing to come out of today's embarrasment. Of course, Red McCombs would have to open his wallet to get a veteran coach to whip the Vikings into shape, and I don't think he'll do that.

mnqueenfreak,

How was the game?

hahahahahaha

If this were a meaningless game I have no doubt the vikes would of pulled it out. But with so much on the line, did you really ever have any doubt that they would collapse yet once again?
