I gave up on ducks again and hit the water with the nice afternoon temps. Again I saw huge numbers of suspended archs on the graph but couldn't get anything to bite. I jigged, longlined cranks, planer boards, and even tried 3-way rigging. No love from whatever they are. I'm guess walleye and northern following tullibee schools. I guess I'll never know until I hook up. I did manage a limit of crappies once the mystery archs put me off enough to quit chasing them.

Are you seeing large signals along with thicker grouped smaller signals over this deep water?

I see this alot this time of year, and like you are mentioning, there is Pike and a few Walleyes mixed in down there amongst large schools of suspended Sunnies and smaller Crappies.

Larger Pike love small Crappies (just like me, but I prefer bigger ones smile.gif)

May or may not be whats down there in this case, but just a thought to throw out there.

The lake I'm on has a strong population of tullibees in it so I'm going to assume that what they are. Yes, the thick clouds of bait start showing up as soon as the basin drops below 50 feet and there are lots of thick hooks visible on the edges of these bait clouds. I might need to invest in downriggers or something. I know there are 10lb walleyes in there. I talked to a local guy who fishes it a bit in the spring and they pulled 3 fish over 29 inches out of there in 4 days. All released thankfully. I'll be working on those fish all winter. I'm guessing they'll stay in that basin and keep munching on those clouds of bait.
