Still shore fishing?

Recommended Posts

Is there anybody that's been getting out for shore fishing still? I was out at Long Lake (New Brighton) a coule nights ago and had one strike but no catches in 1.5 hrs. Just as I was leaving another guy had a strike. Saw two bullheads caught. Story of a couple hammerhandles before I got there.

Lost...If I had'nt of thrown my back out, I'd still be out there and I have no doubt that the wallys are biting, they always do.

The word is that they have been getting some nice Crappies on Little Rock Lake channel and some wallys below the Sartel dam.

Lost...hey, it's me again! I have been hammering the Tylenol, (Ibprophen is to tough) doing all the excercises, pillow under the knees stuff, kicking back, I'm feeling good enough to do some shore fishing (I think?) at any rate, my nephew and I are going out in the morning and if anything positive happens, I'll sure be posting it! grin.gif

I'll be hitting the Mississippi tomorrow before the big game. Hopefully find something just below Coon Rapids Dam. Wish me luck!

I popped down to Pool 2 for about an hour yesterday morning. Beautiful day; didn't get a bite. I wasn't working it too hard though(not that it would have helped necessarily), just enjoying the day. I'm still targeting those big walleyes.

You'll never guess what I caught! Several snags and someone else's snag. LOL. I did have one bite but it was so quick I didn't have a chance to react!

Lost...You and I did about the same....only you at least had a bite! I'm done with the open water until spring.

I actually had a friend's kid with me. I spent more time getting him loose from snags than I did fishing.

I guess I lied a little...this nice weather we have been having, prompted me to give the river one last shot.

I figured that with the overcast, foggy day, the fish might bite a little better in the now clearer water. Off I went, fishing gear in hand!

Well, the day did'nt seem to make much difference? I fished for about 1 1/2 hours and I tried 5 or 6 different approaches, in two different spots.

In spot #1 I wound up getting cut off by a slow moving pike and in spot #2 I wound up getting cut off by a slow moving pike...the cold water slows em down, but it does'nt dull their teeth! Now I'm done until hard water (I think?). Nah, I'am done.

LOL. I've gotta catch me a slow-moving pike. Maybe I can get out for a few minutes tomorrow. But where to?

Lost, maybe you should check out the Coon Rapids dam. I have a cousin that has caught a grab bag of fish out there from time to time. He ususlly uses bottom rigs and manages to catch Catfish, Walleye, Bullhead, and Northern pike. Just a thought.

I'm still catching walleyes down on Lake Crystal right from shore. The next couple of days are supposed to be colder at night so ice might start to form near the banks. I think winter in coming into stay this time.

Corey, that's the last place I fished and I got skunked. Then again, I didn't try every possible spot either.
