Does anyone know if there are any area lakes, besides Pelican, that have ciscos in them??

I'm thinking they will be spawning soon and I was going to see if some late season cranking might turn a couple of big fish before the ice comes.

zelek, According to my "Fishing Lake Map" book. The following lakes have tullibee (cisco). Most of the data was taken in 1996. Strawberry Lake-3; White Earth Lake-14; Tulaby Lake-40; Elbow Lake-29; Little Bemidji-17; Many Point-99; Round Lake-44; Lake Lizzie-28; Crystal Lake-23. The number after the lake is the total catch from the DNR survey. Good luck.

Franklin, lida also, look for sticks sticking out of the water that look really out of place, usually up on a shallow flat near deep water. Those are nets, usually placed there be "oldtimers" who know where it all takes place and when to be there. Paul

Thanks for the response guys.

Hey Kingfisher, I see you're from Winger. Anything happening on Lake Sara these days?? That lake used to kick out some dandys at first ice eh?? My in-laws are from Mahnomen, so I've fished a few of the lakes you mentioned. Elbow used to be one of my favorites.

And Paul...good to see you're still alive. smile.gif Maybe I'll get a chance to finally meet you out on Lee this winter?? Hey...I was wondering something. I was kind of thinking about pulling some cranks on Little Pine this weekend if it's not too windy (I've never been on the lake before). If I don't get out there until just before dark, are there any hazards to be aware of?? I'm not planning on screaming across the lake at night with no moon (that old 40 hp "Rude" as you call it runs great...and no problems with the upgraded vro either), but it would be nice to know if there are any rock piles close to the surface.

Oh..and there are ciscos in LP too right?

Thanks!

Not much of anything to run into on little pine.

Put in at the park on the southwest corner near zorbaz and you'll be in prime crankbait country. Probably the biggest hazard is the shallow ramps due to prop holes from powerloading. I know there is some rocks near where the river runs out of the lake but you probably wont get that close to shore. Yes there are ciscoes in little pine, big pine also, now that I'm thinking about it rush and ottertail also have them. Good luck on little pine! I've had some good nights there this time of the year.. Paul

zelek, Haven't heard much about Sarah for awhile, a friend of mine did well there this summer, we tried it once with no luck. Big Elbow was my favorite lake for many years also.
