Bemidji area Ice fishing

this is going to be one of my 1st years up here fishing, aned was wondering what Lake Bemidji is best known for, any crappies? perch (besides winnie & leech)? thanks, I'm getting excited for some ice!

I went to college in Bemidji, managed one of the sporting goods stores up there while I was there... but then again that was about 10 years ago.

Lake Bemidji its self is not known for its crappies.. I dont ever remember catching one out of Lake Bemidji. However, many of he lakes around are awesome Crappie lakes. Yes it has Perch, good population of walleye and pike.. and plenty of Pout!

Deitz- I was wondering if that was you or not. Long time no speak.

As far as Bemidji for ice fishing- I concentrate on walleye's the most in the winter. The past four years have been really good for us, and had excellent success every time on the lake. We do catch lots of perch that are mixed in with the Walleye so it makes it fun for everybody.

sounds good guys thanks for the info, should be a good one up here! Oh one more q, is there anyone that screws around with ice houses up here? I'm sure there is some vandalism, but any famous lakes that have high #'s of break ins?

I had my fish house vandalized last year. They caused $900 worth of damage and they caught them too! They had to pay me restitution, so I built another house.

I too saw that ice patch outside of maple. I almost got out my auger, ice house, and rods. We should have a FM ice fishing get together on Lake Bemidji this year. Or at least you me, and jmnhunter should go out every weekend, after deerhunting gets done!! Well turd, see you either tonight or wednesday in class!!

Yeah I guess you're right. She doesn't eat fish tho. Sounds kind of dumb to be fishing but not eat fish. Oh well, whatever. Although I think I'll share my other from with JN. I think he would like that more than me.

I havn't been up since last winter.. and only got out about 3 times when I was up last(In-laws still in bemidji) I do miss the fishing up there in a bad way!!!

Exedeude- Yes it has been long time no speak. I am getting ready to head up to Northome and go deer hunting for the day. We don't have school today due to veterens day. We still have 7 deer to shoot and only have until the 21st to do it.

If you get up here this winter give me a shout and we can head to one of my shacks and crack some eye's.
