What gives it worked all day yesterday?

If you're referring to your avatar, that happened to me also. I was using afreeimagehost. It worked for awhile and then I got the same message as you.

Apparently, some of the free image hosting sites only allow a photo to be downloaded so many times. When you hit that limit, you get the red x or a message like the one showing up under your name.

I tried a number of sites and ended up using imageshack to host my photos. It is free, they exist for the sole purpose of allowing us to put photos there and link to them, and they don't have a bandwith limitation. So far it has worked.
