Just after breakfast after the morning deer hunt, about 40 mallards sat down in the bay we live on and snuggled up against the ice edge. One of the birds was white. At first, I thought it was a goldeneye, but when I grabbed the binocs, it was pure white. It even had the tail curls going. The bill appeared to be very light orange or pinkish. I managed one distant digital picture on the water and one in flight. They were too far for very good resolution, however.

Has anybody ever heard of an albino mallard?

i too have a picture of an albino mallard. same discription you have given. mine was taken 2 years ago a couple of weeks before the waterfowl season open'd.

one of the duck commander video's also has an albino mallard on it. this duck was shot by one of the hunters on the video and you get a close up of this unique bird.

I shot one a few years ago. We have seen it for years on the lake by my house and finally got him when he landed in the field close by. He is a unique bird. I got him stuffed!

The top photo is a dead ringer for the bird I saw, except mine had two full tail curls. Thanks.

Alot of the Albino ducks you see are offspring of wild and tame ducks. We call them town ducks or popcorn ducks cuz people are always feeding them. They do get out and fly and feed in the fields in the evening. In the summer there is usually one or two around. Talking about the Waterville area.

It's would be a prize duck for sure!
