Probably going to be heading up to the area tomorrow. I'm wondering what the ice is like in the area. Is it driveable yet? or 4-wheelers only?
If anyone knows of some good crappie action in the area I'd be much obliged as well.
Thanks.

Big Sandy had 8 inches last weekend and Minnewawa had 12", but ice is at different thickness around the lake. A truck went into Minnewawa last weekend. The crappies are hitting on wawa, but only in the evening will you get the best bite 5-8 pm.

Thanks for the reply Crappieman. Understand what your saying about varying ice thickness, I think we've got a lot of that all over right now.

BuckN the ice thickness varies from Lake to Lake. I would evaluate whether the lake your fishing is spring fed. If it is always be careful. If it is a small lake, it is a good bet that it has close to 12 inches on it. But always take a spud bar or auger and check as you walk out. I wouldn't drive on any lakes with a car or truck. But atv traffic is heavy on most of the lakes I've been on. Rush Lake in Rush has car traffic on it, but not me. I am going to wait. And just think it is going to get warm out this weekend, more reasons to be careful. The lake that I fish on is really making alot of noise. That means it is making ice, but still scares the heck out of me.
