Lake Osakis fall 2022

Spent several hours on Osakis today. Heard the walleye bite was picking up, but I brought my usual poor luck. Caught 2  11 inchers. Lost a few others one was real nice but broke my hook on the way up. Very rough out there today and couldn’t find any in the calm spots.  Never tried for panfish but I hear they are going too. Water temp was 59-62 range.  Stopped at Fletcher’s bait. Great small bait shop with lots of variety of minnows.

I haven't fished Osakis since the late 70s but I duck hunt it occasionally. I am going to try and fish Osakis before the cold snap on Thursday. Any pointers? Is there still a bait shop in Osakis?

yup the gas station and the General store,  there ya can get your guns too!!!

Don't forget about IP Lures just west of town about 2 miles on the south side of Co. 82. 

 

I was out on Osakis last week for a couple hours. Picked up two walleyes, one about 13" and the other a fat 14-1/2". Also a couple northerns and a handful of perch.

Went up Tuesday. After scouting for duck hunting locations I fished for ~ 3 hours. Tried a hump off Crow point that had some fish found with LiveScope but no takers on jig and fathead. Trolled the shore south of Linwood Pt with a Salmo hornet, no takers. Trolled a spinner and minnow outside the weeds off the big point. Had a strike and 2 north (25" and 28") in 20 minutes. It was a fun day to be out on that lake, very calm. The pic is Cody watching a loon near the boat. I thought he was going to jump out a few times. A lot of young of the year loons on the lake.

I was up at the cabin last week. Seems like all the adult loons headed south as all I seen where the young of the year loons!
