Mississippi North of Brainerd

Hey guys, not sure if any of you fish this stretch of river often… I’ve found a lot of old inactive forums and thought I’d start one. Has anyone been out on this stretch recently?

Probably none of the regulars here but you never know if someone might come out of lurking to reply.

 

I’ve never fished it but have looked at it personally and on maps.  Looks like you’re in Brainerd.  What kind of info are you looking for?

I was wondering if anyone has been out walleye or muskie fishing there recently… The smallies are definitely biting right now but I’m looking for a change of pace

Get on the shallow food shelves in current.  If you’re already there for the smallies, fish closer to the edge to deeper water for the walleyes.  I like the Rapala line up and swimming shads on a jig head.  
 

I really couldn’t tell you anything about the muskies except they should have the feed bag on and their best food are those fish on the food shelves.  Throw bigger stuff and don’t rule out top water ( I’d pick something slow).  Halloween colors for October .

 

I’m assuming the water has been clear but maybe a little dirtier now after the rains?

Water has been pretty clear compared to the summer, I’ve been fishing along steeper banks and weed lines for smallies. Tried a couple deeper bends for eyes but no dice there
