Fishing In Texas

Just out of curiosity, has anyone fished in Texas before, particularly the Dallas/Ft. Worth area? I’ll be down there the week of thanksgiving, and hoping to plan a fishing day.

 

Originally, I was thinking of going after alligator gar. But it doesn’t sound like November is the greatest month to target them. So I’m leaning towards a multi species outing, with an emphasis on striped bass.

 

So, just wondering if anyone has been down there and has any guides or resorts to recommend.

Wow what are the odds?  I went to the Dallas Fort Worth area in 2016.  It was late March though.  I shore fished bunch of reservoirs and creeks.  All within 50 miles from my stay.  I purchased a rod and reel a the local Goodwill - a couple of crappie bugs at Walmart.  I caught 2 lily livered crappies, bunch of sunny's  and a little white bass.  There were tournaments going on in one of the huge reservoirs NW of Fort Worth.  It was flooded everywhere - very turbid waters.  Most were fishing in over 20 feet

I was told that Lake Whitney is the place to be for striped bass. So I’m checking out guide trips for that lake. Looks like it’s known for crappies and blue cats too. That would be perfect!
