Hi everyone! Just joined this forum, hoping someone here can lend a hand. My wife and I live about a half an hour south of the cities and are looking to get a couple hours up north to a rather secluded public area where we can sit around outdoors and I really want to catch some panfish from shore. Most docks are at public accesses and my wife prefers somewhere less occupied and grassy. I just want to toss a bobber out and hopefully reel something in. I’d rent a boat but apparently that’s not an option during this whole Coronavirus thing we got going on. If you have any ideas for me let me know! Thank you for taking time to read :)

Check the governor's statement that just came out. You may be able to rent a boat.

Welcome to the site Lukach.  Best option I can think of might be closer to 3 hrs from the south metro.  Big Stone lake has many good shore fishing options and if you make a weekend of it places to stay and fantastic shore fishing.  Crappies, sunfish, perch and walleyes are very catchable.   My favorite is sitting on shore at night watching lighted bobbers disappear.   But fish are also catchable during the day.

First off Welcome to Fishing Minnesota, Lukach?

Couple small areas to check out  Upper Spunk lake county Park.  This is located near Avon mn, right off hwy94  good spot for a picnic and should be able to catch fish right there.

Another one would be Benton beach county Park, located close to Rice Mn, off hwy 10.  Nice Park and fishing right there too.

If you want to stay closer to home check out FIN on the DNR site. There's spots all over this great state and the bridges kinda by Hillman might be up your alley.

Good Luck & be sure to let us know how they taste.

Welcome to FM @Lukach.

How about you head south to shields lake NW of Shieldsville, MN. It's off hwy 21. Head west past the access until you get to the bridge on McGinnis creek. You can fish from the bridge. If the waters low enough you can walk the bank and fish that.

Good luck.
