Having fished this lake from shore in the summer and my daughter also and did real well, I can't figure why ice fishing is so bad. 2 full days and nothing! 3" perch galore. Moved around and had my camera. Didn't see any life forms whatsoever!!!!! Never coming back. Hardly a soul on the lake on a 43 degree.Sat.??? What????????

People at the bar I talked to said it's been dead all winter and everybody moved off the lake.

It's been dead for years.  You either have your hidden spot or it's a dead sea.  It gets pounded all summer from everyone in the FM area because they don't want to drive past DL because that's too far.  So people that won't drive past DL hit Big C every weekend and it gets pounded all summer and then about August people start wondering why it becomes a dead sea because everyone from May-August has been pounding it every weekend because it's supposed to have big walleyes in it and they don't want to go to other lakes like Melissa/Sallie/Lida because it is too far.  All those lakes in the cormorant area get pounded soo hard all year by FM residents I personally won't waste my time traveling west to fish them.  It sucks to say that because my family had a cabin there for 30+ years and I looked forward to it every year fishing with my grandfather.  We used to do great but as I got older we had to fish earlier and later every year and at the end before my grandfather got sick we only fished it at night.  Less traffic and the fish would come out of the weeds and actually be active.  Zebra muscles also changed the lake to get it soo clear and causing stuff to go extremely deep and most won't fish that deep and if they do you have to keep what ever you catch because its dead  when it comes out of the hole.

Chill is pretty much spot on in my opinion. I fished it a handful of times one winter about 15 years ago and the best I ever did was 3 walleyes for a couple people. I hear reports every year of people finding fish trolling at night but I’ve never fished it in the summer. I know it get hits pretty hard all summer with recreational boats and I’d guess that had something to do with the night fishing being good.
