Hoping to do a trip up to leech 21st of March. anyone have any suggestions on places to get onto the lake or areas to target? Have few rigs planned so should be able to get around. Any information greatly appreciated

Thank you

Off stoney point. It's where we used to go. It was a blood bath back then.

I'd like to get back up there again.

We went out from Stoney and the Ice Pressure ridge was 6-8 feet tall so we went north about 4-5 miles till pressure ridge ended went east about 2 miles.  We had heard of Paris's Trench was active and was going to target there.  On facebook I got a tip from a guy on an area about 7 miles away from Stoney Point.  Decided aim for Paris's Trench then if nothing aim for the other GPS spot...well when we crossed the pressure ridge finally we were on a few miles from the guys GPS spot.  Went there first and we never left.  Got there about 730/8 with travel time on the lake and a huge crowd was east of us a half mile to a mile and according to the guy they weren't getting them there as often as this spot.  Got to the GPS and we found holes like he said.  Started fishing and we fished till 3 pm and kept 150 and 2 white fish for 3 guys.  Easily had over 200+ on the ice throughout the day but at the end of the day a few of the schools were small and we didn't want to waste time with them.  When we came back a guy and his dad came over the pressure ridge and bragged about how well they did and they said they got 3, we thought 300 and was like wow that's a lot where are they? and they showed us the bucket...ya 3 total fish. They saw ours and asked where we were at then they were hightailing it off to go try it.  We've only fished it once so I'm not sure if that's an amazing day or a slow day.  I'm hoping to make it up there for a few days to check areas and expecting to put many miles on zig zagging around but I have no clue what it looks like this year with the snow we had if that causes more pressure ridges or reduces it.  I'm not worried about deep snow but slush I respect.  Ideally I'll be pulling a trailer around behind me full of gear

Thanks Rick...Just trying to get some ideas.  We will have 2-3 Rangers with Tracks hopefully and 1 wheeler on tracks also.  We should be good on gear and willingness to explore but it's directions on the lake.  I hate pressure ridges and respect the ice so hopefully can get areas easily without crossing cracks/ridges.

the years we went up there we stayed at andersons northland lodge not far from Wipholt. they told us not far out from there place they fished them also. we caught more whitefish there. a lot less crowded and not near as many tullies but enough to keep me happy.

its been along time since i did that!!!!!!!

Have to agree with smurfy! All the years I fished them out there it was off stony point. It was a blast back in the day. Heck kind of a family reuinion everyone new everyone and good times were had by all. Spoons and dropper rigs with small ice flies and waxies  were the key to success. We use to take a couple gunny sacs full up to Vogt meat market In Cold Spring every year and have them smoke them up Eric, John and Dave always figured we were comeing once they heard the bite was on up there.? Unfortunately regulations and codes probably don't allow that anymore. Sure like to snack on a few smoked whitefish tullies from time to time. Good eats!

Possession limit for Tulibee on Leech is 50, whitefish is 25.

Thats a lot of fish and meat when you get a few people together!  Blast of a time when you can catch that many fish and most are 1.5-2 pounds each!
