Horseshoe Lake

Hey all,

 

I've been fishing the Faribault area for a while now. I haven't fished Horseshoe Lake yet, but was interested in the catch numbers I saw on Lake Finder. Does anyone have advice on depth to fish? Locations? Obviously I could go where everyone is, but I'm just curious if anyone has any advice. Thanks for your input!

Horseshoe is a small lake. I caught my largest crappie ever trolling for pike. It was 17 1/4". Caught on the south side of the point that creates the horseshoe effect.

 

I've also caught walleyes in about 15' of water in the center of the south arm.

Hey Rick,

 

Thanks for the feedback and response! I caught the crud and my son had a double ear infection this weekend so we didn't get out. I'm hoping to this weekend and will definitely give a report!

Well I went out tonight for a short amount of time before dark. I had my son(2.5) and wife along so didn't have a lot of time to scout or fish. There were only two other permanents on the lake that I could see from the public landing. There was a plowed road and 4 trucks in the parking lot. We set up in 14' of water but never marked anything. I'll head back another time. Thanks for the tip Rick!
