Crawfish

Hey everybody. I'm looking for good crayfishing spots in the Twin Cities area. I've been trapping for about 3 yrs now and have yet to catch crayfish #1. 

I use traditional minnow/crayfish funnel traps and a box trap.

I've tried a wide variety of baits including; canned cat food and dog food, sardines, fresh caught sunfish and perch, chicken livers and gizzards.

I've tried local lakes, rivers and streams, but all I've caught are small bait fish and once a small catfish.

After all this I think it's good bodies of water I'm missing. Any help as far as baits, traps but mostly locations is truly appreciated!

It’s illegal to use sunfish or perch for bait.

I can’t imagine NOT being able to catch crayfish in the Miss around the Cities.  Find some rocks and drop in.  Kill some fathead minnows for bait.

 

Of course if you’re looking for eating craws, that’s another story.
