Here is an old post that tells a bit about the flats from an ice fishing perspective. For walleyes troll the edges paying special attention to funnel areas and sharp points.

 

For perch and smaller eyes don't be afraid to run spinners across the top. Be careful that you don't drag your weight in the mud.
