Have a cabin for 5 days on this lake. The one by Kimball and Mink. Anybody have any good tips to get some trout out of there? Also Elbow looks good for Walleyes any tips for that lake? I know Devilfish and Tom are good but would like to stay fairly close have wife and 6 year old Grandson with.

We did ok on small Lakers during the winter off the point to the left looking out from the resort in about 25-40' feet. I would talk with the resort folks where they may be biting now though.  Good luck.

Give them all a shot you will be there for 5 days.  Get a lake map before you go and look it over. It makes it easier for the resort folks to point out spots instead of just saying over there. ?

Troll spinners or small rapalas along the shoreline. Ever since the DNR started stocking fall fingerlings this lake has gone way downhill! It’s still ok, but it sounds like the DNR will switch back to yearling only stocking in the spring and fall.

Mink and Kimball lakes are much better for rainbows. Elbow Lake is good for sunfish and perch. Worms under a bobber.

Upon further looking at DNR map Two Island looks like the walleye lake and Smallies to boot grandson will have a blast with those. JB I know you fish this one a lot I have a 17 ft crestliner with 60 hp tiller will I have any issues launching and running other than the boulders ? Bobber and a leech ? You said in your other post the bugs were bad deer flies mosquito's? I have a Themacell and lots of bug dope what have you used to keep them at bay? Just trying to get a general idea what I am up against I live just off the Rum River so I know about deer flies in the summer. Wife and grandson will be with so trying to make it bearable so I don't have to cut short a day on the lake.

The access is fine for any kind of boat. There are shallow rock bars and sunken islands everywhere on this lake! I’ve fished this lake for 35 years and just last week I “discovered” a new rock bar. When you launch, stay wide right, as there is a huge shallow rock flat that extends quite a ways out. Take a slow cruise around the lake to get a general sense of things. This is a great bass/walleye lake with some decent pike and perch mixed in also.
