Happy Spring,

Looking for DIY product ideas or a business referral for a webcam installed at the cabin? I noticed the Head O Lakes new webcam on the Lake Vermilion resorts website and it looks good.

Thank you

We have several Nest webcams installed at our cabin, they make an indoor and outdoor version.  Ours have been very reliable and are easy to setup.  The outside ones have survived and continued to operate even at extreme winter temps, 3 winters so far.  You can get their thermostat and fire/co2 also and control all from the same app.  They aren’t the cheapest, but if ease of use is important they offer that.  They can be setup to email you when they detect motion or sound, so they can double as security as well.

I would second the recommendation for Nest.  I helped a friend instal Nest at his lake home, East to set up, clear pictures and reliable.

Nest is a good product as long as you have good internet connection. Have two camera's and two thermostats. Thermostats have been great ever since we figured out they need a full time power wire from furnace. Cameras supply good picture but have to pay yearly subscription if you want to be able to look back at history. Have had issues with cameras going offline for no apparent reason. If you have marginal internet signal I would look for something else.
