My brothers and I are bringing Dad up for his first Rainy trip May 30 - June 2 and are looking for any info, especially with the cold, wet spring. Looking to have a memorable trip because dad just finished cancer treatment and we want to repay the old man for all of the years he spent taking us fishing. We have been up several years ago, so not strangers to the lake or techniques.  Dad is a big crappie guy, so we would love to get I to some slabs!  Thanks for any input

I will be up with my dad the next week! I would and will be going into Black Bay. Trolling with blue Rapala is usually the ticket for walleye. Crappies I would look around the Rat Root River end of the bay. Good luck! Be on the lookout for the rocks!

It depends on what areas you are going to fish. If in black Bay Area you might try trolling spinners along the east end or north shore in 6-10 feet. Fishing current areas will usually produce also. I've had some luck in jack fish Bay Area using the same methods while fishing for walleye and northerns. Hope you enjoy your stay.
