It is that time of year again when the crappies invade the shallow waters on most every lake and become catchable!  Hope everyone is getting out there and enjoying the open water after a long winter!  My oldest (10) came out with his grandpa's and me to get into some action and we selectively kept 18 for a meal.  The fish weren't thick in the bays we checked but they were showing up and seemed to show up more the later in the weekend.  Opener is looking to hopefully be a great weekend.  Good luck to all and post reports and pictures if ya gottem!

What's the update on how the crappies are going, going to try farm island in the morning. Will be the first time fishing it, being new to the area and new boat owner i'm trying to find a lake with consistency for these early crappies.

Not sure now, but I was up on a lake a few minutes from Farm Island for Memorial Day Weekend and the weeds were all still matted down. If you cruised around until you could look down and see areas where the weeds were coming up, you would find the crappies too.

We were able to find a few in shallow water in the Brainerd Lakes area today.  Water temp was 70-72 depending on where we were at... mostly bluegills up shallow.  I think it most lakes crappies will be most consistent on first weedline with temps that hight.
