Anyone seeing any ice free lakes in the area yet?

Posted

The MN DNR website keeps a regularly updated list of lakes with reported Ice Out and dates.  I'm not sure if you see your favorite lake listed yet (but there's lots of free water in the metro area and probably some getting close to your area...)

Seems like they update it about one day/week on that website.  Obviously the best way to find out if the lake is ice free is to go look.  I think a lot of lakes in the southern half of the state will be ice free in the next week after this rain and warmth predicted.

Modis, satellite from UW ,  on a clear day gets you a peek without be there. The imagery from yesterday shows the south end of ML looking a little gray.

Most lakes around Rush City including Rush and Goose went ice free yesterday.
