Just getting warmed up on the thought process!  I had a video text already this morning from a friend practicing so I know he’s got it on the brain pretty bad.

 

I’ll do some scouting and door knocking today since I’ll be in the area I hunted last year.  I get to pick up my Ripley buck mount and a couple diver ducks from the taxidermist today.  Actually I should probably get out there now!

Just got back fairly quiet this morning with the rain fog combo. Heard a few gobbling on roosts but not to fired up today. Trail cameras are in place have two good areas holding birds.  Once I check cameras and am done scouting will have to sit down and look at all my intel  I've collected and decide where to put my blinds. Seems like a lot of the birds are still hanging around there wintering areas hopeing they start busting up and traveling more soon.

Saw a couple in an area no one can hunt so I bought a new call and tried it out. I called from the road and got the Tom to come within 20 yards.

 

my dads field is being used I did not call there.  Checked a couple other spots with good sign.

Got out to the blind and decoys are out. My dad was sitting in my blind with my decoys out. O well I let the old man hunt and came home for a nap!!

The only thing making noise this morning is the rooster pheasant. It’s crazy that the geese cranes ducks and frogs are silent

Had a Tom run by at 35 yards yesterday but never gave me a good shot and with the wind I took the high road.

Nailed a dandy on my farm this past Thursday. First morning out and I was done by 10:00. Had three other tom's talking back to me before I got this one.  10 inch beard on it.

Im in the same boat as Moose. This is the first year of having our own land to hunt. Had a Tom out in the back three days in a row. When it comes time for me to sit, nowhere to be seen. Oh well, pheasant population is booming....

Agreed with the pheasants it’s looking like Finn will be retrieving some roosters this fall
