Rainy River Fishing Reports

We had customers in this Last weekend that did real well.Numbers were good , not a lot of pigs but a few,they were fishing in the Birchdale area.

Anything happening on the river yet? Sounds like the shiners are starting to move upstream.

Just got back from there.  Big ones aint biting yet.  Lots of good keeper size fish.  Fished frontier and vidas.  River is really high and strong current

I am heading up friday morning. What are the temps? I am going to start at Birchdale.

Water was 45 last Thursday through Saturday.   I heard they were getting some bigger ones closer to the lake.  Biggest we got was 23".  So maybe the bigger ones are starting to head up river.

Thanks for the info. Can't wait to get back on the water for one last hoorah before the boat gets put away! I will post a report when I get back.

Got back yesterday from the river. River was changing the whole time. Water temps started at 41.1 and were down to 40.5 on Saturday. Level was dropping and the current had commensurate changes. That being said, the fishing was very good for us. Caught 27 Friday afternoon and 45 on Saturday. Got a 27.25 inch and 26.5 inch fish that were very thick. Lot of 20 to 24 inch fish. All fish were caught on stick baits with the speed ranging from 1.3 to 2.4 depending upon the current strength. Nice final trip until we have safe ice!
