Bait??????????

i pretty much know ice fishing is toast around here, but are these places still carrying bait, like minnows or waxies around here???????? headed to bowstring area friday morning so i called 2 places that sell bait up on hwy 6. both said they have no minnows and they heard the ponds froze out so noone is getting minnows.

We ran into fisherman heading to Bowstring on Friday at Fred's Bait in Deer River.  Fred's had plenty of fatheads/chubs available.

thing with freds, he has better hours then a banker!!!!!!!!!!!! he usually is never open when i cruise through there, not to mention i turn off before his place. i hate going outta my way when i'm on a mission, its why i see my buddy george on the east side of deer river.

If you could swing through Little Falls or Brainerd on your way up, Da Fishin Hole, Fleet Supply and Baxter Fleet Farm probably have what you need.

We're covered. Picked up waxies at Kiess's. They also had a pile of minnows.

 

Call my pal  George at the bait shop in deer river. He got plenty minnows to.he also said there is no more 2 layers of ice and only a couple beat up accesses.

He also has good news about the ice. Said a few accesses were getting beat up but there isn't any more of the 2 layers of ice.

i have no issues with freds. unless he's changed his hours he's closed by 6. rarely do i get to deer river by then.

Bet you can leave work a little earlier to make it to Fred's if you want. Because your probably not doin anything besides thinking about going fishing anyway & no one will notice.
