Oh well videos not loaded. Got off the bike, hiked out found some feeding sign, marked the spot. Walk back to bike just to see nice 10" walking away 20 feet from bike! 🤣 -

With everybody patiently waiting for ice-out on Vermilion, I thought it would be interesting to have an ice-out contest for our small lake located half way between Duluth and Lake Vermilion. We are on a 150 acre lake with a maximum depth of 11 feet. One week ago I took my last snowmobile ride around the lake, and two days later I took my last walk around it. On the day I last walked around the lake, the ice thickness was 10 inches at 100 yards out. The picture below was from yesterday, Tuesday, April 15th. Winner wins a raffle ticket for our volunteer fire department cash raffle. In future years, our ice out date may help me predict when the ice will go out on Vermilion.
