Big change in Navionics Boating Apps. Dec. 19, Nanionics combined the Boating ($9.95 purchase $4.95 renew) and Boating HD ($54.95 & 14.95 respective) app into one app now called Boating Marine & Lakes HD. Now one annual subscription price of $14.99. When you open your Boating app ($9.95 / $4.95) app you will be directed to install Boating Marine & Lakes HD and your data will automatic transfer IF YOUR LOGGED INTO NAVIONICS. It's good until your subscription ends, than you buy another year at $14.95. Garmin added ActiveCaptain to the app which overlays "points of intrest" and ability to transfer map, markers etc. data to your Garmin comparable electronics. Very limited POI's on inland lakes found a couple on Mille Lacs & Superior. You ca add some if you wish.

So will the mobile Boating app I paid a one time price of $15 for about 10 yrs ago stop working and I'll be required to start paying $15 each year? Maybe I'm missing something. Thanks

Seems like once it’s loaded on your phone you can still access whatever is in the memory at that time.  I’m guessing you don’t get any updates going forward if your subscription isn’t current.

Is that about right @papadarv?

Correct you can only get contour updates on lake maps with the annual paid subscription. Been that way for many years. Updates are done daily, I always update before I go out. The $15 once a year to me is less than pocket change compared to cost of $500 GPS and $150 annual lake map chip or $10 to $30 per lake per year for Lakemaster FishSmart app.

Agreed!

Remember what the hard plastic card Lake Maps cost and how accurate they weren’t/aren’t?  We’ve come a long way baby (another throw back reference).

Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense.

Just getting settled down now.  The kid and her family plus a buddy and his family came with.  Had to get everyone set up and get a couple pizzas into em.   19 inches of ice.  We drove till we came to crack that had softer ice about 13 inches.  Veered off and spread out on some structure.  One little walleye so far.  One missed.  Half dozen marked.   Good crust of snow about 2-3 inches on the east side.  Getting out toward the main body of water the snow patches and bare ice are about 50/50.  We have about 1/2 - 3/4 inch of snow here.  I’m able to move around without cleats for the set up but need to pay attention.  I’d be comfortable by myself but I’m still used to falling down, so… 😉

Thanks for the report, kind of partel to sour dough and found many of the local maidens at market fairs to be a bit better then Great Harvest.   But, back on topic.  Pictures of cooked fish!  😜

I have no idea what kind of jam Jan might’ve run into for lingonberries.  I just know she hit the mark with the blueberry.   After getting jammed up on the question I had to double check on the bread label to see if it came from the same store.  The bread was from Great Harvest, not Second Harvest.  Second Harvest is the food shelf….  The Great Harvest Bread Company has a location in Waite Park you might want to investigate.   Now, back to work with my cup of Reality Roasters coffee.  It’s budget season.

Holy crap, Jan is missing the boat not having Lingonberry Jam for all the Finlanders up dar!  🙄     If she don't know?  Lingonberry jam is a Scandinavian staple that originates from the northern regions of Europe, where lingonberries grow in the forests of Sweden, Finland, and Denmark

Well, a recent bout of fish fever has swept through our area causing work on Friday to be cancelled.     My wife said her fever is so bad she had to ice it ASAP.     Real time report on the snow and ice conditions expected tomorrow night.
