Any of you have or have used the one 3 snitch rod? I have a CGI in-line I have on a  Shakespeare noodle rod but don’t like it so that reel will get put on a new rod. I bought a tickle stick last year and paired it with a Decent and really enjoyed it. Looks like the snitch rod is $30-$40. So a little cheaper than the tickle stick Also looking at the beaver dam glass noodle if the snitch isn’t the best.

I use a snitch and it works well. I want to upgrade to a custom rod, but have save a few bucks yet.

Awesome I like the idea of coustom rods to but the price of them are really insane to me. Almost pulled the trigger last year on a TUCR but $120 seemed crazy to spend on just an ice rod The couple reviews on line Are good. I may cheak it out in stores and if it seems decent I make give it a whirl

I totally agree and my luck with ice rods a custom would break just as quick as a cheapo. I have been using the snitch for two years now and it’s by far better then most of the other noodles I used. When you go to the store check out a bunch of the snitches, because some are more sensitive then others. I like a super soft tip to detect them light bites.

Maybe check the TUCR inferno line. I grabbed 2 of the orange tips for panfish and I like them. IUL28.  55 bucks at cabelas.

I was looking at those also. Seem like a good setup. But what are you paying for? The TUCR name? Or a made in China peice of junk? None the less they seem nice but for $55 I’d be tempted to just get another tickle stick. Just talked to a buddy that has the snitch combo and said. Yes it’s awsome! He also has invested in the TUCR industry and said he wishes he didn’t buy it. It’s nice but you really have to be careful and not break it. Said he's even fished with smaller spoons on the snitch for eyes.

I thought most of the custom blanks come from china.

Hmm great question. Honestly not sure about that one

After doing some research people say the snitch isn’t that great for “lighter” jigs I mostly just use tubby jigs in the 1/32oz. So for the couple dollars more maybe I’ll just go with another tickle stick. But also I’m starting to like those infernos Royce recommended the 28” Ul. Only problem is Cabela’s shows them on there site instock. But TUCR said there also available at scheels but there not on there site? I think I’ll call scheels later and see what they say.

Decent production rod for right around $60. My only complaint is the fly guides they use are a bit heavy for the blank.  I do like the soft tip  on them though. Not a very good all purpose rod, but one I use when fishing small jigs in shallow water.

Thanks rick! I’m looking for is something that can handle jigs from like 1/64th- 1/32th oz tubby jigs up to like 1/20oz clam caviar jigs or very small spoons for crappies. That’s what I’ve heard yes it’s a tuned up name but the guides they use on the higher end models cost more and they must put cheaper ones on to lower the price. I’ll hold each of them and see what feels best. Down to the snitch, 28” inferno UL or tickle stick 23” Ul or light. I’d really like to try the bull whip, PN or fusion but can’t really swallow the $120 pill. Starting to get real in one month today a year ago I was on the hard water. I’d say I’m about 50% ready and I’ll finish getting the rest out and prepped next weekend.

Allen Kichler makes custom rods over by Zimmerman. I won one at an event and it is sweet! 32 inch power noodle. He is on FB. Kichler Custom Rods. Great guy.  Makes some dandy rods and I will update with him when I do.

I’d love that but I’d never be able to wait Lol. The SUL is nice and fun to fish with but doesn’t hold a lot of weight well (jig weight) hard to find one that is a multipurpose as far as jig weight but is still noodly and fun to use and within budget.

Took eyeguys advice and went with a 28 inch ul inferno. Got it for $45 with a $10 off $40 or more I got from Cabela’s for my birthday that seemed like a great price. So far it seems really nice and looks nice I’d take the inferno over the tickle stick so far. Put the decent on the inferno and the CGi on the tickle stick along with new 4lb ice magic on both. Debating now on getting another inferno but in a heavier action and put my sienna on it and use it for my walleye/perch jigging setup.

Hopefully, you will like the setup. I prefer it big time compared to the tickle sticks that I had. I started using the 3 pound high vis green micro ice last winter and really like it also. These older eyes can see it nice.

I think your right. I really like t so far but will see how I like it once it gets used. The heavier models seem just as good as the ul. Softer tip and solid backbone. That’s a good point on the line I have green on the Cgi but I guess I’ve never really noticed a difference.

Picked up another inferno. Went with the M (but really it’s a ML) has the yellow guide wraps. Nice soft tip to handle baits from 1/8-1/4oz. And the nice transition to a really good back bone for fighting bigger fish and setting the hook. Payed the full $55 for this one and paired with a 1000 size sienna and a fresh spool of 6lb micro ice. This one will be my walleye/ lake Winnie perch setup. Was at the scheels ice fest and the 13 fishing guys were really pushing the tickle sticks with free fall combo. I personally couldn’t agree more with eyeguy54 that the inferno is better than the tickle stick. I guess they fixed the paint peeling issue from last year but I felt that it was a nice rod for the $40 I paid but didn’t feel that special. The inferno just feels nice. I’ll continue to use the tickle stick but I can’t wait to compare the two now.

P.S the snitch is a really nice rod for $35 nice soft tip and good back bone. A nice looking rod indeed as well. Buddy of mine picked up the snitch/ decent combo so will see what he thinks of it.

I bought the inferno with yellow guide wraps last year for a walleye rod.Good rod, good feel however after a month and a half of using it the top guide developed a cut in it from the line(I use 6lb suffix mono only).I emailed tucr they said bring it in and we will see what we can do.I wanted to see if they could put a different tip on it but they said they wouldnt do that and they gave me another inferno of the same model.I used it for the last month of the season and guess what? The top guide has a cut in it again.I realize these are a cheaper rod than their top of the line however I have other rods I have used for many years and payed much less for that have no cuts/slices in any of the guides.Seemed like they were trying to upsell me to a better rod with better guides. Why would i spend 55$ on a cheaper rod to find out its junk then give them double that for what they say is a better rod. They have nice rods but they lost my business 55$ for a rod that didnt last a season isnt going to get me on their bandwagon.

Not to say this didn’t happen but it seems odd to me that mono (not Braid) would do that to a guide. The fly guides they use are very ridgid and have a coating on them. I just spoke with John from TUCR. We both agreed braid would do this but mono? He also said he has these same guides on fly rods and that line is similar to braid and he’s never had an issue. These rods have become VERY popular now, you look on Cabela’s website and as soon as there instock there sold out again. I’ve never heard of any issues with these and John is a very up and front kind of guy and if there an issue he would have said somthing. We all have our own tastes and some may love a rod and others my hate a rod all depends on how you fish. I really appertiate your feedback though always like to hear from people that use products and let others know how they like them.

Glad you spoke with him.Regardless if you and him believe me or not makes no difference to me.I have used 6lb suffix mono since it came out.I fish allmost daily and jig constantly, regardless the tip should last longer than a couple months.I use buckshots and pimples all under a 1/4oz in fact this rod was most used for tumbler spoons which wheigh alot less.I dont believe it was John I spoke with at the shop but he is the one I exchanged emails with and I still have those emails. My reel was still taped to the rod and spooled with mono when I brought it in and they exchanged it for me.I then had to respool since the line was all nicked up from the cut.Im not here to bash anyones product just let people know.So unless they changed the tips on them you will eventually find out the same thing I have if you put it to good use like me.Good luck.

I have 2 Snitch rods that have the CGI inline reels on them and I love them.  they work just fine with small tungsten jigs for panfish. The soft tip allows you to see the lightest of bites and when you set the hook the backbone is right there for a solid hookup. How this helps and I'm gonna stop talking now cause I'm getting all worked up talking about it. Good luck bud!

If you fished with me more often, you'd never have to make this statement...   38" of ice - love it. I'm really going to have to dig around for my auger extension. I don't think that I've needed it in over a decade.   Too bad nobody has a locomotive chugging across the ice to do some logging, like the good old days.

On the South Shore...  Ice fishing remains strong across the south shore of Lake of the Woods out on Big Traverse Bay.  Resorts and outfitters on some parts of the lake have ice roads extending over 16 miles staying on nice schools of walleyes and saugers.  Many fish houses are over deep mud.  Some are on structure.  It is always fishing of course, but overall, February has been very productive for most anglers.   Extensions are being used on ice augers as the ice continues to thicken.  The thick ice this year will be good for the extended ice fishing season Lake of the Woods enjoys with fish houses out through March 31st, walleyes and saugers open through April 14th and a pike season that never closes. Most fishing activity is taking place in 26-32 feet of water.  Anglers are finding a healthy mix of walleyes and saugers, with a good number of jumbo perch in the mix this year.  Some big eelpout are also showing up.  Anglers are reporting plenty of fish for fresh fish frys and usually extra fish to bring home.   The one-two punch of a jigging line and deadstick is the way to go.  On the jigging line, jigging spoons with rattles tipped with a minnow head have been consistent.  Lipless crankbaits and jigging rap style lures also doing well.     Lures with a light have been working well in the stained water.  Please remember, in MN, lures with a light or water activated light can be used as long as the battery is mercury free and the hook is attached directly to the lure and not as a dropper line.     On the deadstick, a plain hook or a small jig with a live minnow 6 inches to a foot off of the bottom.    Some days, mornings are better, other days, it's the afternoons.  There is no distinct pattern, they could come through at any time. On the Rainy River...  The start of the day and end of the day have been best for those targeting walleyes on the river. A jig and minnow or a jigging spoon tipped with a minnow head is also producing some fish. Some big sturgeon being iced by ice anglers targeting them.  It is a catch-and-release sturgeon season currently.   Although ice conditions on the river are good, they can vary significantly due to the current, so anglers should always consult local resorts or outfitters for the most up-to-date safety information and fishing advice. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing has been strong in the islands area of Lake of the Woods. Resorts continue to move their fish houses around, staying on the best schools of walleyes.     Anglers are catching a nice mix of walleyes, saugers, and jumbo perch with an occasional pike or tullibee as well.     Big crappies are still being caught just over the border.  Fish houses are available, check with a NW Angle resort for info on crappie fishing.   Lake of the Woods enjoys an extended ice fishing season with fish houses on the ice through March 31st and walleye and sauger seasons open through April 14th. Perch, crappie, and pike seasons remain open year-round.

Monday was my worst day of winter fishing on Vermilion in the last 4 years.  Caught only one 14" walleye in nearly 8 hours of fishing.  Missed two other bites and was marking very few fish.  Maybe the fish were taking Monday off after a big weekend.   No more water came up on the ice under my house.  Think it was because I haven't banked snow around it for a couple of weeks so the bare ice around the house is getting very thick.  I measured 38" of ice under my house and the Ion barely made it through even with the extension installed.  Needless to say I banked around the house this time.  Another lesson I learned today is don't drill holes if ice is frozen on your blades.  I did that on one hole and it didn't center properly and drilled at an angle on the edge of the opening.  Hope I can correct the location and angle on my next trip up.   Not much change in the surface lake surface conditions.  The drifts may be a little higher and are definitely harder.  There are still a few bare ice spots on the lake.  Very little activity on the lake today.  There are about 3 dozen houses from McKinley Park out to Birch Island.  Another person pulled there house off today, and I am sure many more will pull theirs off this coming weekend.  Only 13 days left of walleye season.
