Small Jaws have been hitting great all over. Stick baits, tubes and mepps in the slack areas and swim jigs and chatterbaits in current areas.  Got one of those fancy whopper ploppers that I have not tried yet but hope to soon. I have heard some great reports about them. Buzzbaits should be hot soon.  Chime in as to how you are doing. Couple pics.

Nice fish! I got lucky the other day. Normally I LOSE all of my tackle on the river, but I found two whopper ploppers on snags right next to shore. Pulled them out of the snags and stuffed them in my box, so hopefully they work well. I know they aren’t cheap!

As for reports, I had a couple incredible days during the stretch of hot days earlier in the week, but I went out today for a couple hours after the rain and only managed a few smallies. Nothing of noteworthy size. The colder weather and rain seemed to give them lockjaw.

You guys made me look up “Whopper Plopper” since I don’t remember hearing about them before.  It sounds like it could be something like a Lunker Plunker that everyone uses on Sandy Point. ?

Turns out they’re a lot like a Top Raider, the musky lure I caught my big smallie on.  Maybe it wasn’t as freakish as I originally thought! ?

  • 10 months later...

I purchased a few of the whopper plopper last summer for doing guide trips. Customers really like the action bass provide while just simply casting and cranking them in.
