Who hates when your monofilament line wants to come off your reel. Let me share some tips and tricks with you on spooling your reel and help fixing this problem. https://youtu.be/CkFtOHn9nm0

Not necessary to discard half the spool unless the line is old and due for change anyway. Just let out the line as he demonstrated and slowly reel it back in. Twists will be gone.

...and a well placed swivel does wonders.

Do not put to much line on your spool , as to much line will make a mess soon after you start fishing it ..  also try to bring fish up , or move them around with your pole ,and then reel down to the fish , thus eliminating drag use , and reeling while drag is going out ..  if these tips are followed correctly you will really eliminate line twist , and not having to use a swivel while jigging . Be 100 % percent sure that the line is spooled with the right memory from bulk to reel spool...    get em !!

I don't put nearly that much line on most of my rods unless I drag lures. Most of my fishing is in 30ft or less and I've never battled a lake monster that took out 100ft of line. My jigging rods aren't used for casting so I don't need to put that much on just to make casting smoother. Spool only the line that is necessary plus some extra and you'll be fine! Good video though.

Table is updated below.  Opening day is likely in jeopardy.  Lots of good dates available for those sitting on the sideline.

That's ok, got the Bear hunting out of my system years ago.  Still have some good spots on the GPS up in the Arrow head!  Did love me some good greasy bear roasts though!  😋

Yes, I'm on the West End.  No crappies yet, but I caught a couple of Cisco's and some perch this morning. Been dealing with chores at the cabin since 10 AM, so not much fishing.

Hard to tell exactly how much snow the way the wind was blowing it around, close to that I'll bet!  3 sleds went by earlier. Brian, are you on the west end? Did you fish?  Catch any crappies?

I was on the lake this morning. There is still a lot of ice. I went down to the housing on my auger a couple of times.  I'm not sure how much snow we got yesterday and last night but it looks like around 7 to 8 inches at least.
