Lowrance Sun Cover

Question

Posted

I just bought a new Elite 7TI and the sun cover it came with doesn't really snap on very securely.  I'd say it just rests loosely on the outside.  It won't fall off if I flip it upside down, but it feels like it wouldn't stay on going down the highway or withstand any sort of jarring.  It takes hardly any pressure to pull it off.  Is this normal or is it a defect?  I've never owned a graph with a sun cover so I'm not familiar, but I imagined it would be a lot more snug.

I have a couple of those covers.  Not sure what they are good for.

I use a big zip tie that will slide on and off.

I looked at those covers at Cabelas for my hook and thought they seemed loose also. I ended up with the neoprene cover that Cabelas sells. Haven't trailered with it on but it seems like it would stay in place.

I've got two for my elite 7s.  I never considered that they would stay on at 70 mph, or even 40.  I rarely use them actually.  What are they supposed to prevent?
