So far, my open water season has been limited.  And I have been skunked both times.  So, not much in the way of reports.

That got me to thinking about something to post here to get things going again.

What are you going to try this summer that don't normally do or is outside of your comfort zone?  Fishing can be a game of continual learning so trying something new might improve your results.

I, myself, am going to try and use swimbaits more.  I am without a trolling motor, so I am limited to what I can do based on the current wind conditions.  I have picked up some of the Storm 360 GT swim baits and am anxious to see if I can make them work.  As someone who spends all of his time drifting, trolling or slip bobber fishing this will be different for me.

I'd like to try and get some summer crappies in the boat this year, never had very good luck finding them. Had any luck with the 360 swim bait? I picked one up but haven't had a chance to use it yet.

I might get a chance to try it out this weekend.

Well did something new today that kinda suprised me, me and a buddy were fishing the edge of a weed line for bass or northerns throwing raps and I had on a dark salmo hornet rap I was throwing and I managed to catch two bullheads on it! Never imagined to catch a bullhead that way I guess

I was able to throw a 360 for a few minutes the other night.  I came to the conclusion that it must be a great bait for catching walleyes ... because I was catching sheepheads with it.

Ha ya them dang sheephead will always get you! We threw search baits also in the green color and seemed to catch alot of bass on them, I liked how they somewhat resisted getting cought in the weeds and the swim pattern of it in general.

This year I plan on doing more fishing in low light hours 4-5am and 10-11pm.

I've also been playing with more natural colored shallow running rapalas this year with some success catching a little of everything.
