Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer, Tony Musatov, has been named the 2016 Joe Alexander Conservation Officer of the Year for his dedicated efforts to the Turn in Poachers (TIP) program.

The award is named in honor of past conservation officer and DNR Commissioner, Joe Alexander who portrayed dedication and focused concern for natural resources. It is presented annually to one Minnesota conversation officer who best represents the mission of TIP during the course of duty.

“CO Musatov exemplifies what TIP stands for,” said Dennis Mackedanz, executive director of TIP. “He has shown a history of service that continues to reflect the TIP mission by speaking at safety trainings, organizing and promoting the TIP “Wall of Shame” and working with other Officers to promote the TIP program.”

Musatov gives credit to the TIP program for many successful cases which would have been much more difficult without the services provided by TIP.

“It is and has been a great honor to be able to recognize officers for their participation with TIP,” said Mackedanz. “The partnership developed nearly 36 years ago has proven to be as strong today as it was back then. May we continue to meet today’s needs and those in the future.”

TIP is a nonprofit organization operating on private donation. TIP accomplishes its mission of protecting and preserving Minnesota’s natural resources by providing education materials and by funding rewards paid directly to citizens who call in tips that lead to arrests of game and fish law violators.
