Sucker Fishing Near Becker

I acquired my parents old charcoal smoker and was hoping to catch some suckers with the kids this spring. Can anyone point me in a helpful direction near the Becker area? I would probably be willing to drive about 20 or 30 miles. Kids are 7 and under and I think they could have a blast. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Snuffy's Landing area on the Mississippi just North of Becker has always be good. Otherwise the Elk river hold some nice ones.

hit up the landing in Richmond a few weeks ago.  got a bunch of red horse and one monster sucker. the big one was 27 inches and 12lbs 7oz. Don't know what the record is but i would think it would have been close.

The state record white sucker is 9lbs 1oz.

Looks to be a greater or river redhorse there, definitely not a white sucker. You can tell by looking at the scales on a line from the tail to the head. Redhorse scales will stay evenly spaced the across the length of the body whereas the scales on a white sucker become more crowded as you get closer to the head.

Have you ever fished that dam between Orono lake and the Elk River? Thinking about trying that this coming week for suckers
